First, let me apologize because I was wanting to put up a post on December 7 and somehow, it completely slipped my mind. It seems like a lot of things have been doing that lately. I have a great deal of respect for the men and women who have served this country and gave their lives to protect her. I have had the tremendous opportunity to visit the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor as well as the museum in Nagasaki, Japan and the U.S.S. Missouri. That means that I have seen the museums commemorating both the beginning and the end of WWII on both sides of the war in the Pacific. Standing in the Memorial over the Arizona is a haunting experience. Looking into the end of it, you will see a list of names of Sailors and Marines who lost their lives on board that ship on December 7, 1941. They are still on board. In Nagasaki, you can visit ground zero. The place where the bomb actually hit as well as look at the city both before and after. That too, is a haunting experience. To realize that there is something in this world that can cause that much destruction in just the blink of an eye. I ask everyone who reads this to please remember those who have given their lives in defense of this country (this includes both the living and the deceased because even the living have given at least a portion of their lives) in your thoughts and prayers every single day.

Now, this all brings me to the story that caused me to look at my blog and realize that I had forgotten to post that day. The Reverend Jeremiah Wright went back to the pulpit on Sunday, and, in his usual fashion began to bash the United States again. This time, he got his history wrong. (Sort of like Obama when he said that his uncle was part of the first forces to go into Auschwitz which was in fact liberated by the Soviets.) Rev. Wright actually said that December 7 marked the anniversary that the United States killed 80,000 innocent people by bombing Hiroshima. Now, why would anyone, who actually loves this country, still be attending this church and listen to this nut. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

On a side note, have you ever noticed how, when a Democrat is in office, it is the United States that does bad things. But, when a Republican is in office, it is him alone. Look at it. America dropped the atomic bombs. It wasn't Harry S. Truman who gave the order. America put Japanese Americans in interment camps, not Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was America that boycotted the Olympics, not Jimmy Carter. But, it was Bush who attacked Iraq. It was Bush who put people in Guantanamo Bay. It was Bush who authorized torture. The liberals in this country just don't get it. Well, actually, they do. As long as they can make the Republicans to look like the bad guys then they continue to win elections. So, they portray everything to be the Republicans' fault while protecting the Democrats. The media buys into this, so they do the same thing. This is why Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are still in office, even though they are two of the biggest reasons the economy is in the situation it is in.

Well, Barack Obama promised he would change things if he got elected president. He is delivering on this promise. So, buckle up. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

The biggest thing he is planning on the day he takes the oath is the way bills become laws. He has asked Congress to pass his new economic plan by January 20, 2009 so that he can sign it into law the day he becomes president. This would bypass all the ordinary debates over the bill that would normally go on. It will probably pass. Congress is usually busy in January swearing in their new members, reviewing election results, making committee assignments and other such things that need to happen in order to set up shop (so to speak). In the midst of all this, Obama is asking them to consider one of the most comprehensive packages in history.

He is using the current status of the economy to try and fast-track his socialist plans. He wants to do this on day one. Forget the 100-day agenda that FDR put into practice during his "New Deal" plan when he took office. I am afraid that this will happen. His plan will tie jobs, the economy and several other things that would normally all be in different bills into one bill. And, once it passes Congress and is signed into law, will not ever be on the table for debate again. How scary is it that this can happen?

This bill will not even get the due process that we depend on to ensure that Congress does the right thing (or at least that's the intent). He is looking to be able to get Congress to do exactly what he wants. He is looking for more power than any other president in history. What he is asking is unprecedented. The normal process is supposed to be in place. It is supposed to be a process of checks and balances. There is supposed to be debate. He is asking to bypass all of this. The programs he is proposing will extend the current recession beyond the normal correction time that the economy would have done by itself. What most people don't seem to understand is that the free market will always correct itself. Sometimes it is painful. But, it will always work through it in the end. The fact that the housing market tanked was caused by the government forcing lenders into an area that they had never gone. Trying to get people into homes that they could not afford. Then, people got greedy, and, in order to correct itself, it had to collapse. It will come back. The same thing happens in the stock market. Look at what happened before the Great Depression. The market was up. Then it crashed. The same thing has happened here. It was up at the highest point in history. It had to go down. It was getting to the point that there was no more room to go up. Add to that the fact that the banks were being forced to take on bad loans and their liquidity was all dried up. Now, you have a mess. But, it is a major correction. You hear the economists talking about small corrections all the time. Every now and again, you need to have a major correction. This is what is happening right now.

Rush Limbaugh asked something that sticks with me right now because it is appropriate. "If times are so tough, how can parents afford to spoil their kids?" If this is truly another depression as the Democrats would want us to believe, then why would we even be asking this question? Parents would not be spoiling their kids. Times are tough, don't get me wrong, but, they could be a whole lot worse. Obama wants us to believe that this is a major crisis. He wants us scared. This way, he can force his socialistic ideals down our throats. And, we will thank him for it. Well, not me. I do look forward to being compensated for the years of service that I have given this country, but, I don't need anything from government. Especially when it comes at the cost of the very freedoms that thousands upon thousands of people have defended.

If you don't like the idea that Obama wants Congress to pass this bill, especially without the due process that it needs to go through, I highly encourage you to drop an e-mail or a letter to your Congressman/woman. You can find the US Senate here. The House of Representatives here. From there you can find your respective representatives. A little more research will be required for those of you who have new people going into office in January.

Didn't we form this country to get away from Europe?

As I read more and more about everything that is going on in this country, I am getting more convinced that there are quite a few people in this country that want us to be more like our European counterparts. I mean, that is the only way I can explain it. In Europe, the governments pretty much run everything. They oversee everything. This is the direction we are heading.

Why in the world would we do that when our economy determines how the rest of the world goes? Watch the markets sometime (if you haven't). However our market goes one day, the rest of them will follow. Everyone compares their currency to the dollar. That is the way it has been for quite some time. What made it this great? Capitalism. Plain and simple. The idea that people had the freedom to succeed or fail all on their own. If I can come up with something that people need or will buy, I work hard to provide it and can watch how my business is run, then I will succeed. If any of these things are not in the mix, then I will fail. That is how everything in this country works. Some of us work for those who have the ideas. But, that doesn't mean that we can't be a success in our own right. We all have our own talents. I mean, the person with the ideas, sometimes, is not always the same person with the skill to make or promote the idea. There are other people who can do that much better. They provide the service and get paid for it. If someone gets to greedy and tries to grab too big a share of the market, then they end up cutting their own throats. If they spend more than they have, they go under. It's extremely simple, but it works.

The idea that the federal government needs to get into the business of running businesses is asinine. They can't even run the things that they are supposed to run. The more they get involved, the more we will become like our European brethren. The less control we will have over our own destinies. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand that the auto makers are a huge part of our economy. But, I still don't believe that we need to spend the amount of money that they are asking for. I say, if they are really as close as they say they are to going bankrupt, then let them. It doesn't mean that they have to go out of business. I mean, airlines go bankrupt on a fairly regular basis. they don't go out of business. Bankruptcy will mean that the companies will have the opportunity to restructure everything, including the ridiculous Union contracts that they have to pay.

It seems that since this economic down turn has taken place, that everyone and their mothers are coming to the government for a hand out. The government in turn is demanding more control. The very people who demanded that we leave Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae alone and let them run of their own accord, refusing to provide oversight, and thus, precipitating the current economic conditions, are the one's who are sitting up there on Capitol Hill and demanding they get control over every aspect of the economy. They are the one's who voted to give the Treasury Secretary $700 billion to spend as he saw fit (him and him alone) and then, a month and a half later, had the audacity to question the way he is spending it. These are the people who are to blame for the status of the economy. Not us. They are the one's who supported ACORN who would go to banks and demand that they give loans to people who did not deserve them for housed that they had no business buying in the first place. If they didn't then they were discriminating. They are the one's who allowed F.M. and F.M. to continue down the path that would cause this "CRISIS", even when people were warning them that this would happen. The warnings came as early as 2000. They had eight years to see the light and prevent this from happening. What makes us believe that they can do anything now?

We have elected a president whose every promise, during his campaign, will lead us more and more down the path to socialism. More and more to a government controlled population. Instead of a population controlled government.

So, again, I ask, "Didn't we form this country to get away from Europe?"

Redistribution on our terms

Who will ever forget Barack Obama telling Joe the Plumber that he wants to distribute the wealth? I know I won't. I have pointed out many times that this is what Obama's economic policy is. He wants to take more money from the "rich" (people who work hard for what they have) and give it to the "poor" (those who choose not to work, complain about their lot in life and look for the government for a handout because they are entitled to it for some reason or another). In the mean time, he turns around and gives money to such organizations as ACORN who is known for their fraudulent involvement in elections. His right hand man, Joe Biden, who makes quite a bit of money in his own right, only gave something like $3000 to charity (I don't remember the exact number, but when you make as much money as he does, this is truly a small sum). I have long pointed out that there are still good people in this country and that people will do the right things with their money.

Last night, I watched a show that shows exactly that. It is called "Secret Millionaire" and it is on Fox. Last night was the first night of it and they showed two stories. The premise is this: Millionaires will live in poverty for one week (I know that truly isn't a long time but just follow me on this one) and at the end of that week, they give at least $100,000 to people they think deserve it. I liked the first story better than the second. The first story was a man who has made millions in real estate. He has something like 16 aircraft, all kinds of cars (including a Rolls Royce), and a yacht. His 22yr old son has never had to work for anything in his life. The two of them went to Imperial Beach near the Mexican border in California. They had $150 to live on for the week. They found a place to live that they had to pay for every day. It cost them $57 for the first night. Most people would have turned and walked out right away when they saw this place. They figured out quickly that they had to work. They found someone looking for some help on a construction sight. They were knocking down walls and stuff like that. The woman that supervised them talked to them and invited them to her house for breakfast the next morning. She had actually lived for a while in an irrigation canal and now, even though she was still in debt up to her ears, found the time to help out other people because she was finally starting to get back on track. They then met a lady that fed anyone who came to her and asked for food. She had something like 17 people living in her house. Finally they met a family with a little girl with cancer. Both parents worked for small companies that had no insurance. They struggled just to make ends meet and couldn't afford the medical bills. The son actually broke down when he realized how lucky he was to be in his situation. The father said that the experience changed his life. The two of them gave a total of $125,000 to these three people. After listening to them, I think that they will be doing a lot more in the future.

The second story was about a couple who went and lived for a week in a town that was flattened by Katrina. They were more on a fact finding mission than anything. Sure, they stayed in a trailer for the week, but they drove around in their Suburban and volunteered and talked to people. They did not have to work. The money they had was for food and driving around. They didn't get to eat steak or any of the things they were used to. They ended up giving a total of $300,000 to three people. A preacher whose house was totally gone but he rebuilt his church and was now working on a house for volunteers to stay in while they were there got $100,000. A football coach who combined the teams from three rival schools after the hurricane and went on to win the state championship two years later got $100,000 to rebuild the facilities that they didn't have. And finally, a couple who was living in FEMA trailer and rebuilding a coffee shop to help feed the people of the area (really more of a soup kitchen) and were rebuilding a small apartment upstairs so they could move out of the trailer got $100,000 because in the midst of building they took time out to distribute food.

This show proves that there are still people in this world who know how fortunate they are. It also shows that you don't have to be rich to give back. These people pretty much had nothing, but were still giving back what little they had. Nothing fancy. Just what they could. Then these people come in and actually took the time to find out what these people were made of. And then, even though it wasn't a large sum of money to them, it was enough to make a difference in their lives.

We do not need government to redistribute our wealth. We can do that all on our own.

Has anybody noticed that just about everyone of the people that Obama has announced as his team that is going into the White House with him all served, in some form or another, under Clinton? This is not what he promised during his campaign. He said that it was time to do away with "politics as usual". But, now he goes and announces that the very people that he is going to rely on for advice are the same people that have been in Washington for many, many years. How is this NOT Politics as usual? He says that in this time of economic crisis, it should not surprise people that he would draw on the experience from the last Democratic Administration. In fact, he said that he believes the people should expect it. WHAT???!!! You promised that your administration would not be the same old people. It appears to me, that what you are admitting is the very same thing that many people tried to point out from day one, you do not have the experience to run this country. Why else would you turn to the experience of the last Democratic administration? It just makes no sense.

Harvard economist Ken Rogoff has said, "Some see political motives in all this foot dragging (speaking of the fact that Obama pretty much disappeared for a while). Obama may want to avoid being linked in any way to the policy failures of the Bush era. By not taking ownership of the problem now, Obama can reappear dramatically as a savior on Jan. 20 like Franklin Roosevelt in 1933, thereby reclaiming the commanding heights of US politics for the Democratic Party. It's exactly the FDR model. The market may sink another 10%, but then they can win elections for another 10 years. It makes sense politically to hang Bush out to dry, but Obama has to hang the economy out to dry at the same time. Obama, in other words, may want to turn crisis into opportunity."

As a matter of fact, the model is set. Towards the end of a third consecutive Republican Term as President, the stock market crashed. Now, as we all know, it ended up being the start of The Great Depression. But, instead of letting the market recover, the people voted in one of the most socialist Presidents in the history of this great country, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Instead of depending on the principles that founded this country, the fact that government was to be limited with most of the power being given to the states and cities, FDR instituted The New Deal, in which the Federal Governement seized control over a huge portion of the economy and our lives. Now, fast forward. At the end of the second consecutive Republican Term as President, the stock market has crashed. We have elected a Democrat, who is relatively unknown, but who has the most liberal voting record in the Senate and whose policies point directly to the Federal government taking even more control over our lives. The New Deal actually extended the effects of the Great Depression. Obama's policies will do more of the same. FDR has been touted as one of the greatest presidents this country has had even though the only reason we came out of the depression was World War II.

Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare are both almost bankrupt. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are a big reason why the economy is the way it is. These are federally run entities. Are these the same people who we want to tell us how to live our lives? The politicians who have protected these entities have lined their pockets and gotten big fat bank accounts while the economy goes down hill. Do you really believe that these people have the Average American's best interest at heart? NO WAY!! All they are worried about, is getting their hands on more of our money so they can reward people who don't deserve it. All under the guise of CRISIS.

Crisis is good for Democrats. That's why they push Global Warming (or climate change). They want us to be scared so they can control more of our lives. The lead scientist at NASA who is in charge of reporting the world's climate has been caught in so many lies that there is no way we can believe a word he says. They reported that October was the warmest October on record. Then it was discovered that they had actually entered September's numbers by mistake. Glaciers around the world are growing. Many places are reporting record snow fall. Shoot, even Al Gore delivered a speach in London on Global Warming during the first snow storm that they had seen that early in the year in something like 50 yrs. He blamed it on Global Warming. The are beginning to blame everything on Global Warming. How can we have record snow falls and blame it on Global Warming? It just makes NO sense.

This is what the Democrats do. They foster panic. They want their to be a crisis. That way, they can come in and "save the day". What they are actually doing, is eating away at the very fabric that has made this country great. The very foundations of this country.

Just a little more food for thought. This is not change. This has all been done before and until the majority of people in this country can start to look back and realize the mistakes that have been made in the past, and commit to not making them again, then we will continue to go through this cycle, over and over again. Every generation will face the same kinds of crisis that we are facing now.

Will We Ever Learn

This post is going to be a little history lesson. Mainly about the Constitution of The United States of America. The first two paragraphs are straight from Wikipedia. The entire Constitution can be read there.

The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the United States. It provides the framework for the organization of the United States Government. The document defines the three main branches of the government: The legislative branch with a bicameral Congress, an executive branch led by the President, and a judicial branch headed by the Supreme Court. Besides providing for the organization of these branches, the Constitution carefully outlines which powers each branch may exercise. It also reserves numerous rights for the individual states, thereby establishing the United States' federal system of government. It is the shortest and oldest written constitution of any major sovereign state.[1]

The United States Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787, by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later ratified by conventions in each U.S. state in the name of "The People"; it has since been amended twenty-seven times, the first ten amendments being known as the Bill of Rights.[2][3] The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union was actually the first constitution of the United States of America.[citation needed] The U.S. Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation as the governing document for the United States, and transformed the constitutional basis of government from confederation to federation, also making it the world's oldest federal constitution.[4] The Constitution has a central place in United States law and political culture.[5] The handwritten, or "engrossed", original document is on display at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C.

No where in this original document does the government have the power to tax the people. The 16th amendment, ratified on February 3, 1913, took care of that. Under this amendment, Congress has the power to impose a tax on any income made here in the United States. It doesn't limit the amount of tax the Congress can levy. How scary is this?

In 1819, the state of Maryland tried to levy a tax on the Second Bank of the United States. James McCulloch, head of the Baltimore branch refused to pay it and a suit was filed. The Supreme Court of Maryland upheld the tax so it went to the Supreme Court of the United States. In the decision, Chief Justice John Marshal said, "The power to tax involves the power to destroy." There is nothing I agree with more.

Now, I understand that the Federal Government needs some income in order to provide for the things that the Constitution says they are to provide for. But, can't they just make it simple? I mean the tax code requires a warehouse just to house it. You need a lawyer to translate it, and you might not even get it right then. Politicians don't hesitate to use taxes to try and win your vote. The Democrats are positively masterful at this.

The Fair Tax is the only truly fair way that the government can get the money that they need to pay for the things that they need to. Read about it. Educate yourselves. And then, let your Congressmen/women know that this is what this country needs.

OPEC and other Random Thoughts

You know, I have never actually looked into OPEC and figured out who, exactly, OPEC was. Well, now I know. OPEC stands for Organization of Petrolium Exporting Countries. It has 12 members. They are Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. Now, I don't know about you, but I always thought that this was a middle east organization. Little did I know that there were countries in this hemisphere that were members. Venezuela is the one that worries me the most (after Iran, of course). Hugo Chavez is brokering deals with Russia and other communist (or former communist) countries. They are planning on buying military weapons and such in exchange for help in developing their own country. Russia is even going to help them develop a nuclear reactor. If you have been watching the news at all then you know that Chavez hates us. Almost as much as that radical in Iran. So, all of this has been eye opening to say the least.

Now, some other random thoughts.

Let's turn to the auto industry. We all know that they are asking for $25billion so that they can stay in business. Congress is asking for them to come back to the table with a plan as to how they are going to turn their businesses around (in other words, Congress wants more oversight). I have an idea, get Congress the heck out of their business. Stop the idiotic meddling that they have been doing over the last several years. Stop giving foreign companies concessions to import their cars. And give our companies tax breaks for employing local people. (This is where I would normally give the Fair Tax a plug, but, you can read about that and decide for your self here). Let these companies either succeed or fail of their own accord. They have been doing pretty well so far, even with our government messing with them. It is just getting to be too much for them to overcome. I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but, I can't emphasize enough, everything that the government tries to run has failed, or at least is operating at such a high cost that if it were a private company, they would have failed a long time ago. I mean, look at the list, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Welfare, even the Military. Why do people in this country insist on thinking that government is the answer for everything? They think that the government needs to step in and make sure these companies are being run properly. They can't even run the things that they are supposed to. How can we possibly expect them to ensure the success of any other venture. More government is not the answer. Less is. The list I gave is just a couple of the ways that government interference has caused the American auto industry to be where they are now. It has nothing to do with the car makers not responding to the public. It is simple economics, if the people stop buying something, make something else. That is what they have been doing form many, many years. That's why other companies have failed. It is why GM, Ford, and Chrysler will continue to operate. Get the government out of our businesses and let people succeed or fail of their own accord. THAT IS WHAT HAS MADE THIS COUNTRY GREAT!!

The Ignorant Shall Be Punished

Along with the rest of us.

I heard Rush going over a Zogby poll today. I actually blogged before about something that Howard Stern had done on his show that showed that there were quite a few people who truly had no clue why they were voting for Obama. But, this poll just floored me.

The poll was taken after the election. From Nov 13 to Nov 15. This is what they found. The people polled all voted for Obama. 97.1% were high school graduates. 55% were college graduates. 57.4% didn't know which party controls Congress. 88.4% did not know that it was Obama who said that his policies would bankrupt coal industries. 71.8% did not know that Biden had quit a previous campaign due to plagiarism. 56% did not know that Obama started his political career in the home of two previous members of the Weather Underground. 56% didn't even know who Bill Ayers is. 86.9% thought Sarah Palin said that she could see Russia from her house. Tina Fey said that on Saturday Night Live. Only 2.4% of the people got at least 11 correct. Only 0.5% got all the questions right.

What does all of this mean?

The ignorant shall be punished. Along with the rest of us.

Some Random Thoughts

I just got finished reading two stories that I wish to share my views on.

The first is a letter from Chuck Norris (yes, you read that right and it is him) to President-Elect Obama. Read the entire letter here. In it, he congratulates him on his victory in the election and wonders how he can work for our new president to better America. Then, he realized that the President works for us and quickly changed his tune. Now, I ask you, do you really think that our 44th President will actually care what we think or how we want him to run his administration? I'll give you a clue, Vice-President-Elect Biden already has given that one away. He actually told a group of supporters during the campaign that there was going to come a time when something serious was going to happen and that the decisions that were made would not seem like the right ones. That people would have to remember the support they have given him up to this point and continue to support our President even though they didn't agree with what he was doing. This kind of blind support is not how it is supposed to work. Do they want us to support them the way that this country has supported Bush? The Congress, in prticular, who were all on board a few years ago, are now totally against any idea that Bush has. Now, they again have all the power. We'll see how it all turns out until 2010 when we get to vote on the members of Congress and the Senate again.

The second thing a read was that Al Franken is heading to Washington. He hasn't even been elected yet. He is going to meet with Harry Reid and other Senate leaders so that if the recount comes out in his favor, he can hit the ground running. He said that he wouldn't be attending the orientation that the Senate has for their newly elected officials because that would be "presumptuous". First of all, if anybody has been watching this Senate race in Minnesota, then it would raise all kinds of red flags as to the validity of anything going on up there to begin with. The incumbent, a Republican, was ahead by over 700 votes. Granted, it was close. But, then all of a sudden, there were some more votes found. The number was down to 500. Then, some more were found. The number now stands somewhere between 200 and 300 votes. The recount is this week. However, if you look at the map I posted in my last post, guess where all of these votes were found. That's right, in the northeast portion of the state. That area that is predominantly blue. Now, guess how many votes were found in favor of the incumbent. That's right ZERO. When combine all of this with the fact that some pretty major instances of voter fraud have been found out and accused in other states, why shouldn't we question the validity of this race and of Al Franken, who happens to be one of the most liberal people running for a seat this year? And presumptuous, Mr. Franken, is the idea that you have any business at all in Washington until the election results are final and you, if your voter fraud supporters, have manufactured a victory.

Plain and simple. The Democrats have bought this country. Obama, by refusing to accept public funds he had promised to take, was able to throw so much money into his campaign that McCain never stood a chance. Although I was hoping that there were enough people in this country who could think for themselves and see through all the hype. The Democrats have supported and thrown so much money into the state elections to get their left wing liberals voted in, in any way they could fathom, that we are headed down the path of socialism.

This is what the people said they wanted. Voter fraud that leads to unbridled corruption and power to the very people that are seeking to destroy the very foundations that this country was built on. This is what we have to look forward to.

Who Really should have won?

Now, I am not typically a sore loser. However, if you look at this map you may see red (pun totally intended). This is a map of the Presidential election results by County. If you really look at this map, you will see that the majority of the Country actually voted for McCain (well, at least by number of counties). The map is almost totally red. The blue areas are around the fringes for the most part. Most of the areas have large cities within them. New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and San Francisco to name just a few. Shoot! Look at Illinois! It is pretty much split by counties.

The thing that bothers me the most about this is the fact that it seems like the Republicans just let the large cities go to the Democrats. They don't seem to worry about them. Now, I will agree that the greater Los Angeles area seems to be a lost cause at times, due mainly to Hollywood (the same could be said of San Francisco but only because that community is way out on the left as a whole to begin with), but, if McCain could have taken just one of the larger cities, such as Philadelphia or Miami, then the whole election would have changed.

Has anyone ever wondered why the Democrats campaign mainly near the larger cities? It is extremely obvious to me just by looking at this map. That's all they need to do. If they can take the larger cities, then they can carry the whole election. No matter what the rest of the country does.

So, Obama will be a President voted for by the inner cities and those that are way out to the left way of thinking anyway.

Happy Veteran's Day

I know that I haven't been writing here too much lately. I decided to take a little break after the election. But, don't worry, I have been doing a lot of reading, however, so, I will continue.

But, tonight, I have a different agenda. Today is Veteran's Day. The one day a year where we tell everyone who has served our country Thank You.

As most of you who read this blog know, I currently serve in the US Navy, so, some of those thank you's today have been for me. However, I want to thank all of the people who have served before me, THANK YOU.

I have been serving for 19yrs now. I am proud to do it. There is nothing that I could have done differently. I will admit, when I first came into the Navy, it was for money to go to college. I had only planned to do six years and then get out. But, as my life progressed, a desire to serve grew inside of me. It is not something I do for the money (anybody who has served, or is married to someone who does or has knows that). I am proud of what I do. The very idea of "upholding and defending the Constitution of The United States of America against enemies both foreign and domestic" is what keeps me going. It is about preserving a way of life. A way of life that is the envy of every other country in the world. This is why Al Qaeda doesn't like us. We are a threat to their way of life. Iran is the same way. People see the way that we live and they want to be more like us. The leaders of these countries know that if they let their people live the way we do, then, they will not be able to control their lives anymore. Their way of life will go by the wayside.

I love this country and the people who live here. Even if I don't agree with their beliefs or their points of view. That is one of the very things that I have spent a lifetime defending. The right of everyone to have their own points of view.

However, I would be remiss, if I didn't thank those who have gone before me. The one's who served before me. The one's who are the reasons that I have the opportunity to do what I do. So, to my father, father-in-law, all of my cousins who have served, grandfathers of both me and my lovely wife, all of the people at our church back home who have served, and everyone else who has served, I SAY THANK YOU for the opportunity to return the favor.

The last people I would like to thank are the ones who are currently serving, both home and abroad. Especially those who are engaged in the War on Terror no matter what front you are holding. THANK YOU for doing your part to make this world a safer place for all of us.

Reset Expectations?

I am going to do something that I have only done once before. I am going to post an article that I found on Yahoo.

President Obama's First Step: Reset Expectations

Posted Nov 05, 2008 12:15pm EST by Henry Blodget in Newsmakers, Recession, Election

From ClusterStock, Nov. 5, 2008:

If President Elect Obama were the incoming CEO of a corporation, he would now be preparing for the first act of his tenure: A massive write-off of the mountains of rotted junk buried on the company's balance sheet and an announcement that recovery will take a long, long time.

This flush would clear the way for several years of better than expected results. It would also take advantage of the new leader's one chance to blame the sorry state of the organization on his sorry predecessor.

President Obama began this process last night, in his victory speech, when he noted that restoring the country's health might take more than a term. In the next few weeks, he should go well beyond this:

The deficit will be more than $1 trillion a year for several years

The country needs a massive new fiscal stimulus

The housing market will continue to decline through at least 2010

Interest rates and taxes will eventually have to rise (after the economy stabilizes)

Weak corporations have to be allowed to fail

Millions of homeowners will lose their house

Unemployment will probably rise to 10%

The government simply cannot "bail the country out" -- not because it lacks the will, but because it lacks the power

In short, Obama needs to acknowedge reality, erring on the side of overstating the problems and challenges, and he needs to prepare the country for several tough years. Because if he doesn't, within six months of his taking office, the country will have forgotten all about the prior administration and will instead be blaming everything on him.
It's me again. I found this interesting in light of all the promises that Obama has made over the course of his long campaign. I truly believe that most people who voted for him are expecting an immediate improvement in the economic situation. But, truth be told, it isn't going to go away over night. As he said himself on Tuesday night, it is going to take a lot of work. Those of us who actually have a clue knew that already. The funny thing about all this, is that the faces on the people who attended the victory celebration in Chicago actually looked stunned when he said that.

Again, just keep praying and hold on for the bumpy ride.

Here's to November 6, 2012

First, let me congratulate all of those people out there who supported Barack Obama as well as the man himself.

I truly didn't want to have to say that, but, I am humble enough to know that this is what the majority of people in the United States voted for yesterday and that is that. So, all we can do at this time is congratulate him, pray, and get ready for the next election.

There are two things that worried me about yesterday. It was two things that really resonated within my soul.

First, one of the commentators said that there were more people who voted for Obama because he was black than voted against him because he was black. This indicated, to me, that one of the main reasons this man won the election was because of his skin tone. This is not right. You combine that with the second thing I heard, and that was that Obama got about 67% of the vote in the age group 18-29 and McCain won almost 65% of the vote of people over the age of 60 and you soon begin to realize that this election wasn't truly about the issues at hand. That the majority of the people made decisions on misinformation or downright ignorance.

The second thing I want people to realize is that when it became apparent that Obama was going to win, McCain/Palin very calmly came out and conceded the race. No big drawn out fight that would take the election into December (remember 2000 and 2004). They were very gracious and promised to continue to serve the people of this great nation. This is something that neither Al Gore nor John Kerry did.

And, go ahead and read my wife's blog and you will know why I am so worried about this decision.

So, congratulations. America has spoken. I just hope that we avoid too much damage from being done.

I just don't know

I have been thinking, and reading, trying to come up with something to write about. I was actually going to post something last night, but, I truly didn't know what else I could have said before the polls opened today.

Just some things to remember about how important this election is (let's set aside the fact that no matter which side wins, it will be history. On one side, the first Black President. On the other side, the first female Vice-President).

First, let's look at the different views the candidates have. I have pretty much made it clear how I feel about Obama's views. He is a socialist in his thinking. He will not come right out and say that because it would have totally cost him this election. He wants to expand the government so that people will become even more dependent on government. He wants to "nationalize" health care. He wants to expand Social Security and Medicare. He wants to give a tax break to people who don't pay taxes. He wants to raise taxes on people who make too much money to pay for all of this. He has said himself that he wants to spread the wealth. McCain wants to keep the tax cuts that have been put into place by Bush and make them permanent. A little known fact, is that while Obama may give you a credit now, when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, EVERYONE'S taxes will go up. McCain also supports less regulation by the federal government. He has almost always supported this. There are times when he has felt that we needed to have more regulation (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2005). McCain wants US to be able to do the things that we do to make this economy grow and continue to make this country great.

Second, let's look at the contradictory remarks that have been made by the Democratic ticket. Biden has said himself, that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice for Vice-President than he himself was. Between him and Obama, the level of money that one has to make to ensure that their hard work is punished by higher taxes is somewhere between $150,000 and $250,000. They have actually used three different figures, the lowest being $150,000 and the highest $250,000. Which is it?

Lastly, let's look at something else Biden has said. He guaranteed that within the first six months of his presidency, some international crisis will happen that will test the mettle of Obama. If that statement alone doesn't scare you, here are a few things that I have read in the news that might put this into perspective. Iran (you know, that little country that isn't a threat, according to Obama, even though they continue to pursue nuclear weapons) is putting naval bases along their southern border. This is right at the mouth of the Straits of Hormuz, the only passage into Arabian Gulf. And, if that isn't scary enough, remember Libya and Moammar Gadhafi? Remember Russia? Russia invaded the country of Georgia during the Olympics. Now, Gadhafi is in Russia trying to negotiate deals for weapons. He is actually going to allow the Russians to build a naval base in Libya. Also, the report says, that he is interested in buying air defense systems, combat aircraft and warships from Russia. There are some serious things going on in this world. I truly don't want someone in the White House that people around the globe feel the need to "TEST".

The election that is happening today is extremely important. Not only for the near future, but for generations to come. My wife and I have voted. I encourage everyone who can, to vote. Don't sit this one out. Even though it is NOT a Constitutional right to vote, it is our obligation, as citizens of this great country, to do so, but, to do so with knowledge about what we are voting for. I am sure I will prayers just about every waking moment of the day concerning this election. I know what I believe, and in whom I believe. What about you?

More random thoughts

Alright. I just thought that this was interesting when my wife got it e-mailed to her. It explains an awful lot. I would say funny, but, it is actually sad.

Remember back when Obama was a long shot? He actually signed an agreement to take public financing for his campaign. Well, as we all know, that never happened. He figured out that he could make more money if he relied on private funding. And he sure did. That's how he is able to afford making 30 minute info-mercials. How he can afford to have an entire advertising channel on satellite.
Well, here are a few other random thoughts for you.
First, concerning both his info-mercial the other night and his acceptance speech (this part was played again during the info-mercial). He actually said, "It is that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper -- that makes this country work." Well, in case you haven't heard, he has a brother (half brother actually) that is living in a one room hut in Kenya making about $12 a year. He also has an aunt that was found living in a slum in Boston. She walks around with a metal stick. If he truly believes that this belief is what makes this country work, then how can he have so much money while relatives are living in poverty? If you haven't heard about this, it's probably because both were found by the media in the United Kingdom. That's right. English newspapers found this stuff out. The media here will not even think about playing stories like this.
Maybe the following will let you know a little about why.
What I am referring to here is something that was found on a blog called HillBuzz. I highly encourage you to click on the link and read the comment left on this blog. The person says that she is working for the Obama campaign. In it, she describes all of the things that have been going on in the Obama campaign concerning manipulation of the polls, attacks on Sarah Palin and John McCain, and just a whole other number of things that are designed to cause us to vote Obama. I knew that they were trying to buy this campaign. I knew that the media was trying to shove him down our throats. But, the actual audacity of these people actually makes me sick. The fact that they are actually controlling the media, both on and off the internet, is what really gets me. We need to send the message that we can not be bought.
Thoughts on the economy. Exxon Mobile reported record profits for the 3rd quarter, $14.8billion. That's $14,830,000,000. While this is amazing to me, what I find even more amazing is the fact that they paid $32,510,000,000 in taxes before they came to this number. $11,327,000,000 of that was INCOME TAX. That's right, approximately 67% taxes. Why are we so worried about how much money Exxon Mobile makes? They are NOT the bad guys. They are only doing what the stockholders pay them to do.
Last thing. There are several stories out there about how we are in a recession. Base on what? Through all my reading, I have found out that a recession is usually called if there is a decrease in the GDP for TWO CONSECUTIVE quarters. The GDP for the third quarter was just reported on Wednesday. It did go down, but, it didn't in the second quarter. This means, that by everything that has been used, we are NOT in a recession. Are we in difficult times, absolutely. But, this country is not in a recession right now. And as far as the Bush economic policies, the GDP has grown just about every quarter since the second year Bush was in office. If the GDP has grown, then, the economy has done very well.
Just some food for Friday thought.

As Promised

Well, I did fib a little. These are not actually videos. They are audio soundbites from YouTube. The first one is a series of bites from a radio show on which Obama appeared back in 2001. Tagged onto the end of it is the bite in which he told "Joe the Plumber" how he felt about redistributing wealth.

The second is a bite is something he said, that, to me, just confirms that he can not possibly take an oath in which he swears to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

PLEASE, let me know what you think.

Promote vs. Provide

One of the things that all military personnel and most public officials promise to do when they are sworn in to office is to "uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Now, one of the things that the Constitution says is that the government will PROVIDE FOR THE COMMON DEFENSE. This is what the military is for. Next comes, PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE. We are all intelligent people and we know that there is a difference between provide and promote. What Obama wants to do is to PROVIDE for the general welfare. This goes against one of the very things that the Constitution stands for. He is even willing to go through the courts to do this. He wants judges to have empathy towards the people that are before them. He wants judges who know what it feels like to be poor, African-American, gay or what ever else. He wants these judges to disregard what the law is and find it in their hearts to decide these cases in the best interest of the downtrodden. I have read several articles that state just this. He thinks that we need to redistribute things here in the United States. Mainly, he wants to tax those that are making too much money (according to him) and give it to those who don't make enough (according to him). To me, this goes against the Constitution itself. Later today, I will post a video of an interview with Obama back in 2001 that explains all of this. My question at this time is, if Obama believes this and wins, how can he take the oath of office? Will he actually swear to defend the Constitution against himself?

And, while we are at it, let us talk a little about the freedom of speech. The Obama campaign has cancelled a scheduled interview with Biden's wife, Jill, that was to be given to an Orlando station, following an interview of Joe Biden in which he got asked the very questions that, I feel, should have been asked all along (finally, someone is willing to ask some tough questions). The campaign told the station, “This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election.” What were the questions you might ask? Here is how part of the interview went.

She compared Obama’s comments to the socialist doctrine of Karl Marx then asked Biden, “How is Sen. Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to ‘spread the wealth?’ ”

Biden paused momentarily, grinned, then asked, “Are you joking? Is this a joke? Is this a real question?”

He defended Obama by saying he hoped to spread the wealth by giving the middle class tax breaks. “It’s a ridiculous question,” Biden concluded.

But West wasn’t finished as she asked Biden about his comments that Obama could be tested early on as president. She wondered if the Delaware senator was saying America’s days as the world’s leading power were over.

“I don’t know who’s writing your questions,” Biden shot back.

Now, this is on top of another blow up by Biden over similar questions being asked by a reporter in Philadelphia.

You combine this with the fact that Obama, Biden and many other Democrats support a thing called the Fairness Doctrine, and you get a governmental infringement on one of the dearest rights afforded to us by the Bill of Rights. The Fairness Doctrine says that for every minute that a station airs one point of view, they must also air a minute stating the opposite point of view. In other words, a radio station no longer has the right to determine what it is putting on the air. This is a direct attack on Conservative Talk Radio. The likes of Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, and Sean Hannity, just to name a few. Radio stations air these shows because they make them money. It's plain and simple. People listen to them. The Liberals tried to counteract the effects of conservative talk radio by implementing their own station called Air America. Well, guess what, it fell flat on it's face. Nobody wanted to listen to it. Liberals can't get their views into this format, and they can't fight the conservatives who are there either. So, they want to make it a federal law to let them in. I don't get it. They already have control over the main stream media in most areas. Wait a minute, I do get it. They know that a lot of people listen to these people on the radio. They also know that most Americans have access to more and more information. We can look into things, almost instantly, that would have taken many hours of research before. If they can control everything, then they can infuse their liberal, anti-Constitutional views on everyone.

If we allow the Democrats to have unchecked power in both Congress and the White House, this is where we are heading.

Some things to think about

I want everyone to watch this. I got it from another blog that I look at. What I want you to pay attention to is what the moderator says about raising taxes and government revenue. This is one of the Democratic debates.

In case you didn't notice, this moderator is one of the very people who is trying to push Senator Government down our throats. It's the same as Biden. You didn't agree with him then, why should you agree with him now? It makes no sense.

Now, let me ask a few questions.

What is America 's first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States ?
What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty?

The answer for both of these questions is: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.

Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard?

What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism?

What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party?

You guessed it. The answer to these three questions is: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Now, with all of this in her corner, why are the Democrats trying to attack her lack of experience? It's because they know that they have to take the spotlight off of the fact that Obama has NO EXPERIENCE WHAT-SO-EVER!!!!

They have the gawl to attack her on her experience when they know that Obama has NONE! Biden has even guaranteed that something will happen within the first six months of his Presidency, should he be elected. Biden has even admitted that Clinton would have been a better choice for Vice President than himself.

Between wanting to punish people for their success, and a lack of experience that guarantees something is going to happen, we can not afford to have this man elected.

Senator Government

I know that is not his real name, but, it was priceless when McCain called Obama that in the last debate. I think this is how I will refer to him from now on.

I know a lot of people are a little dissapointed at the announcement that Colin Powell endorses Obama. But, let us look at a couple of things.

First, let us look at what kind of company he is in. A man by the name of Ali Larijani, who happens to be the Iranian Parliament Speaker, says that Iran would prefer it if Obama was the President. Hugo Chavez, the dictator in Venenzuela, has stated that he would like to see Obama win the White House. Now, before someone brings it up, I know that there has been postings on al-Hesbah that AlQaeda supports McCain, but, reports also say that it is because they believe he will continue the failing policies of Bush. It also says that an attack on the United States would certainly guarantee a McCain win because we would want him to get revenge on AlQaeda. AlQaeda would then succeed in exhausting America. Iran wants Obama to win because they know that Obama will talk to them without any preconditions and they can continue to do what they want. They have, on many occasions, said that they want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth and continue on to take out America. So, Mr. Powell's endorsement of Senator Government, although slightly surprising (considering he owes his entire political career to Republicans), sure puts him into an interesting group of people. I forgot about Muammar Qaddafi (a blast from the past that is still alive and kicking), of Libya supports Obama as well as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran. If all of these people who, so obviously don't like America, want Obama to become President, why would we want him?

Second, they have totally stopped hiding their socialist agenda. Obama has actually said that he wants to spread the wealth around (see the video in the previous post). He isn't even trying to hide it anymore. He fully admits it. He wants to take money from people who have worked hard and make a right decent living and give it to people who don't. But, wait, there will be a work requirement for people to get the money, so it isn't welfare. Also, Joe Biden has said that they are going to go after the big C.E.O.'s retirement funds. Now, while I don't believe that a CEO whose actions have caused a company to go into the ground should be rewarded with a big payout at the end, and, that in a lot of cases, there probably even be some sort of fine, I feel that the retirement funds of individuals should be left alone.

The Democrats are the same as they always have been. They are the one's who wanted to keep slavery. Now, they have caused the dependence on the government to grow to the point that there are people out there who don't know how to survive on their own. They have succeeded in creating two new classes of people in this country. First, you have the people who have been getting the handouts from the government. They depend on this money for their very survival. They believe they are entitled to this. Second, you have the Political Elite. They are the one's who say they are campaigning for the very people whom their programs have caused to be right under their thumbs so that they will vote to keep them in power. Now, I know that there are bad apples on both sides of the "aisle". But, the majority of the people who think that they are better equipped to decide what is best for the people of this country than the people themselves, are Democrats.

Lastly, Biden has said two things that I have found to be very disturbing. First, he guaranteed that something would catostrophic would happen to test the mettle of Obama within the first six months of his presidency. Second, he told voters in the Northwest, that there would be a time when they would have to remember their support right now, and provide that support. Because, something would happen that would cause a decision to be made that would go against what everyone would think was right. Now, here we have a guarantee of something big happening, along with a promise that the American people are not going to like something that is being done by his administration, but, we are supposed to support it blindly. WHAT?! Now I know that they are crazy.

Do we want someone who every terrorist organization in the world supports? Do we want someone who fully admits to wanting to take more of our hard earned money and give it to people who don't have the gumption to go out and make something of themselves? Are we going to guarantee that something catostrophic is going to happen?

I KNOW that we can't afford any of this to happen.

Some Random Thoughts

Here is something that a friend sent to my wife to make sure I looked at.

This man says it exactly the way I want to. I just can't say enough about everything the main stream media is doing to try and shove Obama down our throats. I know that there are people out there who are waking up to this fact. I also don't understand the people who are still on the Obama band wagon.

Something else that has scared me in the past couple of weeks. I was listening to one of the radio shows that I like to listen to (Neal Boortz), and they actually played sound clips from, of all things, the Howard Stern show. In it, one of his people was in Harlem asking people on the street who they were voting for. All of them said Barack Obama. Then he asked them follow on questions like (now, you have to pay attention to this) is it his stance on allowing the troops to stay in Iraq and come home with victory? Is it his stance as pro-life? Is it his stance against stem-cell research? (notice, all of these questions are the stances of McCain). Every one of them said yes. The final question in every interview was the one that truly got to me. What do you think of his pick of Sarah Palin as his running mate? Do you think that was a good choice? Every one of them said YES!!!!!!

They played a few of these clips. I just can't believe that people, in this day and age, are going to vote for someone and not even know what his stance is on the issues, or even who his running mate is. This is just plain ignorance. People need to wake up.

One thing that was encouraging, I was listening to another radio show (Rush Limbaugh) and one of his callers called in and said that she has been working for the McCain campaign in her state and that she is getting a lot of people who are Democrats driving up and saying that they are going to be voting for McCain.

So, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. It isn't completely dark yet. It may even be getting a little brighter. Most of the polls have shown that Obama's lead in the polls is waning. McCain seems to be making up some ground. I just hope he has enough to pull it out in the end.

Senator Government

First, let me apologize for being absent 11 days. Changing jobs, along with a long weekend without internet, and things just got away from me.

Quite a bit has happened while I was gone. John McCain and Sarah Palin have gone on the offensive. They have started to bring into question some of Obama's relationships. I say, it's about time. This man truly has no experience and this is the only thing that we have to judge him on. Besides all this, you can not find anything on the things he claims to have done in the past. He has even admitted to being a socialist (although, he would say otherwise and I will talk more about this in a minute).

We have heard of his relationship with Bill Ayers. This man bombed the Pentagon and several other sites in the U.S. Has denounced the United States, and, as recently as 2001, said that he wished he could have done more. Obama sat on a board to reform education in Chicago with this man for about 8 yrs and says it was a casual acquaintance. He has used the tactics described in the book "Rules for Radicals" by communist Saul Alinsky. Shoot, Michelle Obama even used exerpts from this book in a speech. He was associated with ACORN. A group which is under investigation for voter fraud and that he has given several thousand dollars to. He is backed by every Muslim terrorist group on earth. He is even friends with Louis Farrakhan, the head of the Nation of Islam. This man is known for his radical views and speaches denouncing everything that the United States stands for. He sat in a church, for 20 yrs., in which the Reverend Wright spouted anti white, anti American rants as well as met with Mohmmar Gadhafi.

If this isn't enough. He was speaking with "Joe The Plumber" in Ohio. Joe is a man who has worked for about 15 yrs. and finally has enough to buy the company that he works for. However, he has found out that, under Obama's plan, he will be taxed more and will not be able to afford to run the business the way he wants. He actually came face to face with Obama and asked him about it. Do you know what Obama told him? He said that "it isn't that he wants to penalize him, but, he wants to give the person behind him the same chance that he has." He further went on to admit that he wants to "distribute the wealth". McCain attacked Obama on this last night. He said that he would rather "Joe The Plumber" distribute the wealth, not the Government. This is the biggest diference between the two. McCain doesn't want to take any more of anyone's money. Obama says that he is going to raise taxes on everyone who makes more than $250,000. These are the same people who hire other people. And, who do you think is going to actually pay these taxes? We are. The very same people Obama is saying that he is going to cut taxes for.

Taxes are one of the biggest tools politicians have. Every Democrat has promised to lower taxes, and then have raised them. I feel that it is time we get some truly conservative people in office and switch over to the Fair Tax. I highly recommend that everyone take a look at this site and read about it. Everyone that I have discussed this with believes that it is the way we need to go. It would certainly solve the delema for "Joe The Plumber" and anyone else in a similar situation.

They just don't get it

I have been listening to the candidates for President over the past few days. Even caught the Vice Presidential Debate on Thursday. There is one very prominent subject. Taxes.

The Democrats say that they are going to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Well, at least 50% of these people don't even pay income tax. I have asked this question before, "how can you cut something that isn't there to begin with?" Secondly, they say that they are going to raise taxes on anyone who makes over $250,000. I just don't see how they think that this is going to help the middle class. Oh yes, Biden says that it is "patriotic" and "fair". Well, I just can't help but go over this again. If you raise taxes on companies, or people who own their own business, then they are going to be forced to raise their prices. This is because their costs just went up. This will affect the middle class. They want you to believe that oil companies are evil because they make a lot of money. They make a lot of money because we buy a lot of oil. It's as simple as that. I saw an article that showed that one of these companies makes a profit of about $1500 a minute. Now, that is a lot of money. But, they pay $5000 in taxes to the federal government. They actually take in close to $20,000 a minute. This comes to a 7.5% profit margin. This is lower than just about any other business. Do you really think that they are going to let the government cut into their already small profit margin? It isn't going to happen.

At the debate, Biden talked about reaching across party lines. This is one of Obama's biggest selling points. It's also one of the biggest lies they are telling to the American people. Biden, when he was trying to win the nomination for himself, actually said that Obama wasn't qualified to be the Commander in Chief. Now, as soon as he was asked to run with him, he is the first one to defend him. If this isn't going along with the party lines, I don't know what is. You disagree with the man until you can further your own political agenda by agreeing with him. Governor Palin was very adamant about pointing this out during the debate. Another thing that actually got me very excited was that someone, besides the talk shows, actually, finally, called the Democrats' strategy for Iraq to "waive the white flag of surrender".

The Democrats are using taxes to buy your votes. They are stopping at nothing to try and keep their upper hand in the Congress. They are also trying to make people hate anyone who makes more money than they do. Well, guess what. THEY make more money than most of us do. Besides, how much sense does it make to punish those people who work hard and do well? It is counter productive. I still stand by the idea of the Fair Tax (see link to the right). We already pay approximately 22% of every dollar we spend in taxes (on top of whatever income tax we pay). If we get to keep all of our income, then it isn't going to be a hardship to pay 23% on every dollar we spend on new items. I encourage everyone to check it out. Let me know what you think.

Obama is constantly talking about change. But, he and Biden are going right along with the same old Democratic ideals. Raise taxes on the rich, thus, making it harder on the working class. Oh yes, and don't forget about "universal health care". Wait a minute. We already have it in Medicare/Medicaid. And, yes, it has been run into the ground. Why should we trust them with our health care? Everything they say just makes no sense what so ever.

Party Politic Games

Alright. I am getting sick and tired of all the politics that is being played in Washington. I know, I know. That's what they do best, but, I don't understand sometimes why they just can't set aside their petty things until this all gets ironed out. WAIT!! I do know. The Democrats need every little game they can play so that the average American can think that there is a major crisis so that it will be easy to make the decision to vote for Obama so that they can regain control of the White House as well as maintain control over the Congress. Oh yes, last thing that needs to happen is that the Republicans need to be the blame for the crisis.

So, this is what happened. The House of Representatives voted against the Economy Recovery Bill that was before them this week. This is the same bill that they blamed the House Republicans for foiling in the meeting last week with the President, both presidential candidates and leaders of both the House and the Senate. But, as these same Republicans said, the Democrats have control and can pretty much pass anything they want, so why are they the bad guys? Nancy Pelosi took this bill to the House for a vote yesterday. The members barely had enough time to read it, let alone figure out what it really said. The Senate was to have the bill for vote tomorrow. Now, if this was such a good deal, why did so many people vote against it? Why did 95 Democrats vote against it? I'll tell you why. Nancy Pelosi wanted to be able to blame everything on the Republicans. Either way it went, she could do that. The media is helping in all of this. They won't tell you that nearly 40% of the Democrats in the House voted against it and 1/3 of the House Republicans voted for it. They only want you to believe it the Republicans who either want the largest Socialist move in this country to take place or don't want to do what it takes to help out the country. She knew she didn't have the votes to make it pass. That's why the big play for the House Republicans. The Democrats couldn't even convince their own party that this bill was the best thing for this country.

The Democrats have a history of trying to create crisis to get your votes. Thirty years ago, we were headed for another Ice Age. Recently, it's been Golbal Warming (Climate Change), the LOST war in Iraq, and now, finally, the economy. There is nothing we can do about the changes in climate. We are winning the War on Terror, icluding the front of Iraq. And, finally, the market will correct itself. It always does. It may be a little painful, and, we may need to pay closer attention to what is going on, but, it will happen.

Will they ever learn?

Economics and the Debate

If you have been paying attention to the media and trying to follow everything that is going on, then you have probably heard that McCain is trying to bring Presidential Politics into someplace that it just doesn't belong. That he is the reason the whole deal fell through. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. Let's look at what actually happened.

First, McCain announces that he is suspending his campaign. The next day, the Democrats in Washington announce that there is a deal. This was before McCain even showed up. Then, the House Republicans (the same people that refused to leave when Pelosi called for their month break because she refused to even consider a vote on an energy bill) announce that they have a better idea than to spend $700 billion out of the treasury. Then the President has a meeting with all the congressional leaders, including McCain and Obama. The meeting ends in catastrophe and they are at square one again.

Now the media would have you believe that McCain is the reason for the meeting to blow up. But, what actually happened is this: the President gave the Democrats the floor. They all deferred to Obama so that he could come in and appear the savior. He basically went through all the talking points that he was given before getting there, and then proceeded to bash the House republicans. McCain never said a word until the very end and even Harry Reid, the leader of the Senate, said that he didn't even understand what McCain had said. Obama is the one who caused the meeting to go haywire.

See, first, the Democrats tried to make it appear like McCain wasn't even needed, by announcing the deal when they didn't actually have one. Then, they tried to spin everything to appear that McCain was just mucking everything up. When, the exact opposite is true.

The House Republicans actually have the right idea now, I think. I will be the first one to admit that I am not an economist. But, they are proposing to keep the taxpayers' money out of this deal. But, as they say, the Democrats can pass whatever they want. They have the majority in both houses and have the support of the President. So, why are they worried about the House Republicans?

Now, to the Debate. First, let me point out the familiarity that Obama tried to portray. He only called Senator McCain Senator McCain a couple of times. Most of the time he called him John. Now, McCain called Obama Senator Obama EVERY time. And besides, Obama surely stutters quite a bit.

Some people think that Obama has a better handle on the economy. I don't think so. He is still hammering away that he is going to cut taxes for 95% of the citizens. The majority of these peoples don't even pay taxes. How can you cut taxes on people who don't pay them to begin with? He still doesn't get this. Besides, he wants to raise taxes on big corporations and says that he is helping out the middle class. NO HE'S NOT!! The corporations just figure all of their costs when they make their prices. The new taxes will raise the costs for the corporations, therefore, their prices go up. Then, everyone, including the middle class, will be paying more for the things they need to buy. How is this helping. Besides, the taxes is one of the major reasons that companies are outsourcing their jobs. IT COSTS LESS!!! When asked if there were any of his plans that he would have to cut because the government is planning on spending $700 billion Obama just kept adding programs that he wanted to spend money on. How is this helping us? IT IS NOT!

Then, they went to Foreign Affairs. This was supposed to be what the entire debate was about. Someone still needs to tell Obama that there aren't two wars right now (Afghanistan and Iraq). They are two separate fronts of the SAME war. He talks like they are two separate things. He also wants to invade Pakistan. He just doesn't understand anything when it comes to how to deal with any of these countries.

If you want to lose the war on terror, pay higher prices and continue to depend on foreign oil, then, Obama is the one you should vote for. That's what I got out of the debate last night.

What a turn of events

In case you missed the President's speech tonight, he laid out the plan for saving the economy. The money that he is asking Congress to allow to be used for all of this is not supposed to be money we are just giving away. It is to allow the bigger companies to be saved by purchasing the mortgage backed investment packages that have gotten everyone in trouble until everything stabilizes and they can be purchased by investors in the future. Secondly, there is to be an independent council to oversee how the money is disbursed. Also, he has called for leaders in Congress, including Obama and McCain, to a conference to finish hashing out all the details and make this a truly bipartisan agreement.

As far as Obama and McCain are concerned, I really don't care who called who first, the fact is, McCain is going to suspend his campaign until there is an agreement made that everyone can live with. He is going to return to Washington to actually do the job that the citizens of Arizona elected him to do. On the other hand, Obama doesn't seem to think that there is any reason for him to go unless they tell him he needs to. So, both men are doing the very thing that they have been doing their entire adult lives. One, serving his country. The other, serving his own ambitions.

Who do we truly want to lead this country?

Sorry it took so long

As the title of this post says, I am sorry it took so long for me to put down another post. There has been quite a bit going on around here. Plus, I was sick and I have been reading quite a bit about this economic mess so that I could make an informed post on everything that is going on.

Let me first take an aside and wish my lovely wife a late HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! It was on Saturday. I was sick. Sorry about that my love, but, you continue to make me the happiest man on the face of the earth.

Now, down to the political business. Like I said, I have been doing quite a bit of reading on everything that is going on. Forgive me, this will be a little long, but, you really do need to stick with it to the end.

So far, we have the fact that the government has to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. First of all, they kind of had to do this. They are government entities. Now, another investment bank went under and one was bought out by Bank of America. See, it is kind of essential to understand that investment banks get all of their money through their investments. Regular banks have people who deposit their money. That is a big source of capital. Well, now, the government has to bail out an investment bank branch of the largest insurance agency in the world and the treasury is asking for $700 billion to correct the market.

Most people have already heard all of that. What they don't know, because the media won't tell them, is what truly lead to all of this. I am going to do a little comparison here.

Something happened almost 40yrs ago called affirmative action. This, in case you don't know, set quotas on the amount of minorities everyone had to hire. What it did was to force companies to hire non-qualified people for positions based solely on the fact that they were a minority. Something very similar happened in the housing market a few years back. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) set quotas on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as to how much of their portfolio was to be considered "affordable housing". The problem was, they never defined what affordable housing was. They set such high quotas, that it encouraged companies to broker mortgages that encouraged people to buy houses that they truly could not afford. They had programs that would provide mortgages to people with little or no verification of income. The mortgage companies would lend the money because they knew that Fannie and Freddie would buy the mortgages. HUD, who was supposed to be overseeing the activities of these two companies, never did.

Alan Greenspan, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006, warned that all this was going to happen in 2005. He told Congress, "If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,'' he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.''

A reform bill went before the Senate Banking Committee. This bill gave a regulator the power to crack down and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets. Freddie and Fannie would have had to sell off all of the bad paper that they held. Some large institutions would have been buried, but, the market for these mortgages would have no longer existed. Problem averted.

But, the bill never even got to the full Senate. It was defeated by a party line vote in the committee. Opposed by the Democrats. The Securities and Exchange Commissions chief accountant actually wrote that this was a classic case of "socializing the risk while privatizing the profits".

Now, let's look at the fact that many of the Senators that blocked this bill, protecting Fannie and Freddie, received sizable amounts of financial support from these two institutions. Guess whose names are at the top. Chris Dodd is first with $165,000. Second, in only two years, is Barack Obama at $125,000. Hillary Clinton is actually 12th with $75,000. These are the people who could have helped to prevent the record number of foreclosures we see to day as well as the unstable market that this country is seeing. These are the very same people who want to oversee the bail-out proposed by the Treasury. One of these people wants to run our entire country.

Now, to quote one of Obama's own ads, "do we really want more of the same?" Or is this the type of change that we can believe in?

Oh, yes. One final thing I found out while reading over all of this material. Guess who was one of the co-sponsors for the bill the could have prevented this whole mess. That's right, Senator John McCain. Who, if enough people educate themselves and truly make a decision that would be right for this country, WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
