Bipartisanship gone awry

I heard this on Friday, but didn't want to just go off without actually reading about it from a couple of different sources. But, the things some people will do in the name of bipatisanship. Now we have 10 Senators, 5 republicans and 5 democrats, who have come up with a proposition that would totally undermine the very political issue that was turning out to be the very advantage all republican candidates would have in the upcoming election.

They propose to allow drilling but to limit it to outside 50 miles off shore. And then, only after they get permission from all kinds of people, making it almost impossible that any drilling would ever actually happen. This would definately put ANWAR out of the question. They would also put in place $84billion dollars in taxes on the oil companies. Call it what you will, but, this is a windfall tax. This money would go to developing alternative forms of energy (the articles also said renewable energy, but, since there is no such thing, I refuse to use that term). And who do you think is actually going to pay this money in taxes. That's right, US!!!!

I don't understand why it so hard for these people to see that taxing people who provide goods and services for us is just driving up their costs which in turn will drive up their price. That's basic economics. Just like the simple concept of supply and demand. They don't get it. The American people have made it known that the majority of us support drilling as well as the development of alternative forms of energy. It has to be both. Not just one or the other.

The names of the 5 republicans that are totally undermining the very agenda that has and could still decide this election are as follows: Lindsey Graham, John Thune, Saxby Chambliss, Bob Corker, and Johnny Isakson, just in case you are curious.
