I was going to comment on taxes on this post, but, I saw something on the news this morning that just has been with me all day.
This morning, while I was watching the news, they did a story about a 91yr old woman in Ohio who was celebrating her birthday. Her daughter-in-law found out that President Bush was going to be driving by her house while being transported to a fund raiser. She put a sign out asking the President to stop so that she could take a picture with the birthday girl. When she was interviewed, she said that all she truly wanted was for him to open the door and poke his head out. She would carry the lady to the car to take the picture. Well, the President stopped. He then got out and walked into the yard and asked where the birthday girl was. He then proceeded to sit next to her, hold her hand and converse with her. I don't know how long he stayed, but, just the idea that this man, who holds the most powerful office in the world, took the time to stop and wish this woman a Happy Birthday is a testimony to the kind of man he is.
Say what you want, G.W. has class and is a people person. He didn't even have to stop the motorcade, but he did. He truly understands how important every individual is.
This is what we need in the President.

"It is critical our community be an integral and active part of the debate because African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change economically, socially and through our health and well being."
Rep. James Clyburn, D-SC
Majority Whip in the House of Rep.
This statement is trying to make climate change into some sort of racial issue. The environmentalists are trying to shove the whole climate change thing down our throats, almost as much as the media is trying to shove Obama down our throats. First, the world was going to be a ball of fire within 10 yrs (or something like that). Second, it is a national security issue. Now, it's racial.
Mr. Clyburn did not come up with this all on his own. An organization called the Environmental Justice and Climate Change Initiative (EJCC) put out a study that said this.
The report says, "Though far less responsible for climate change, African-Americans are significantly more vulnerable to its effects than non-Hispanic whites. Health, housing, economic well-being, culture and social stability are harmed from such manifestations of climate change as storms, floods, and climate variability."
Last time I checked, the climate on this earth has been going through changes for a lot longer than man has had the ability to affect it. There is only one being who can control storms and floods and the like. That is The Almighty God. To think that we are in any way in control over any of this is ludicrous. God is trying to get our attention and most everyone is just ignoring the message.
Let me give you a little bit of history. Ethanol, a supposed alternative to gas, only became so because of a government mandate that passed by one vote, 51 - 50. Yes, that number means that the deciding vote was cast by the then Vice President Al Gore, who by the way, uses more resources than do most Americans by about 10 times, and is a pretty major stockholder in the Ethanol industry. Don't tell me that that isn't a conflict of interest.
Thirty years ago, right after the last gas crises, we were headed for the next ice age. Now we are too hot. The environmentalists just want something to complain about. And, guess who plays right along with them. That's right, the Democrats. If you pay just a little bit of attention you will see that according to the Democrats, there is always some sort of crisis that is the Republicans fault and they have all the answers to.
Today, they are attacking on several fronts. The war in Iraq. This whole climate change thing (another word for global warming). And don't forget the oil industry. And guess who is preventing there from even being a vote on the House floor on whether or not to drill here. Nancy Pelosi, D-CA.
The report goes on to say that the flooding in New Orleans highlights the vulnerability of the African-American community. The reason that so many people were affected by Katrina is because the city is built below sea level. Whenever a storm comes through, there is going to be issues with flooding. Next, there is the fact that even though people were told to evacuate, some didn't. I know some couldn't, but, the majority of the people that got caught refused to leave. What about the floods just within the past couple of months in the mid-west. Why isn't that used?
This report also goes on to suggest that solutions to climate change should be designed in a way so investors don't reap all of the benefits. It also says that there should be a "fee, tax or allowance auction on polluters." Also, "although it would cause product costs to increase, the revenue from the "fee, tax or allowance auction payment" would be redistributed to consumers to offset the higher costs. Now, what kind of sense does this make? You are going to tax companies, causing them to raise their prices to cover their costs, and then give the very money that caused the increase in costs to the consumers to offset this increase? Why even bother?
This is the problem with most of the people who are trying to tell us how to live our lives right now. They don't make any sense. If you truly listen to the speeches and do just a little bit of homework, then you will understand what I am saying. There is no substance. No proof. Especially from the Democrats.

Today, while I was listening to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, I heard them quote something out of the New Republic. I was curious, as I had not heard of it before, so I have gone there to check it out. Now, I am not even going to discuss what it was they were talking about today. It has to do with oil and I have made it known fully how I feel on that subject. No, while I was looking through this site, trying to figure out the politics of this particular news (it really is quite liberal, to be honest), I read something that truly made me shiver:
The very first sentence in this article I read goes like this; "Last week, for the first time in our history, we had an African American president."
Really???!!!! WHERE??!!!! How did the election happen without me knowing it? Honestly, this is the biggest thing to happen this year, and I missed it.
Now that the sarcasm is over.
The audacity of these people still truly amazes me. This man has not even officially been nominated and they are calling him the president. This is the problem. He thinks it is his entitlement. Not something he has to earn. The man does not even like the United States of America. He is continually telling everyone how awful we are and then turning around and trying to cover his tracks by saying how much he loves being American. We know he doesn't like America. The preacher that he sat and listened to for the past 20yrs preaches against the United States. He refused to wear a flag pin on his lapel for quite a while at the beginning of the campaign. His wife has even admitted to not being proud of the USA until just recently (like when her husband even had a chance at being the nominee and Whoopi, she only said really in one of the three speeches she gave that day). He even has had associations with a known terrorist, who admits what he did and wished that he could have done more. Not to mention him being caught making snide comments about people who happen to believe in the second amendment and their right to bear arms. Shoot, he even has Jesse Jackson wanting to cut off a part of his personal anatomy.
This same story even goes on to say that Obama has yet to take advantage of what has historically been a great opportunity. The economy. They go on to say, "These are the type of painful times when voters invariably turn to Democrats. So why aren't they turning to Obama in greater numbers?" I will tell you why. The voters of this country are not stupid. They know who is standing in the way of lowering gas prices and helping the economy. They know who it is that wants to raise our taxes. Yes, it is the Democrats. Not that all of their ideas are bad. But, to take more money out of my pocket so that someone who will not work for a living can afford to have cable, or to put $150 shoes on their feet is just WRONG!!!!
According to what is getting shoved down our throats, Obama is the answer to everything! This man is the answer to NOTHING as far as I am concerned. He wants to raise our taxes. He wants to block the exploration for more oil even when there are other countries drilling right off our coast. He truly has no concept of the use of the military. He even has said that even knowing what he know now (that would be that we are winning this war and the surge has worked) he would not change his view on the surge. He, like the rest of the Democrats, said that we lost the war before the military was even fully in place. We can not afford to elect this person. He will drive us toward ruin. The man even thinks that he is already president. Like it is already a done deal. These are the types of people we need to watch out for.

Now, as I mentioned a couple of days ago, I was out of the loop for a little while. The truth is, I had a hernia and had to have it repaired. I truly need to thank my lovely wife, Hope for the wonderful care she gave me while I was recovering. She truly went above and beyond to make sure that nothing went wrong while I was going through all that.
I also have to thank my mother for being here during that. I know your help made things easier all the way around. Especially because Hope had someone to gang up on me with.
I love my wife. She is truly the most wonderful person in this world to me. I truly don't know what I would do without her.

Well now, I just can't let go by what I heard yesterday. Senator Barrack Obama addressed a crowd in Berlin yesterday. They say that there were about 200,000 people there. One thing that the media fails to mention is that there was a free concert before he spoke. This is how they got the crowd there. Now to parts of the speech.
First, he opened up by saying that he wasn't there as a presidential candidate. WHAT?!!! You jerk! How stupid do you think we are? All of us know that you would not be there if you weren't a presidential candidate. Not to mention that you aren't even "OFFICIALLY" the Democratic nominee. That doesn't happen until the convention.
And then he goes on about how the Germans and Americans came together after WWII to build the city. Well, guess what, the Germans didn't have a choice. They surrendered and then we had the humanity to help them pick up the pieces.
He talked about how our country has not perfected itself. How we have made mistakes. And how there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best expectations. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't feel like you should try and get elected to be the leader of a country and then go to some other country and tell them about the things that you disagree with in regards to the very same country in which you are trying to lead. I have memories of the Dixie Chicks when they went to a concert overseas and said that they were ashamed that our President came from Texas. Now, in my eyes, it's one thing to criticize our elected officials here within our borders, but to go outside our borders and bad mouth the very same country in which we have the right to do so, it is a totally different thing. And then he tried to smooth things over by mentioning how much he loves America. Give me a break....
There was also some mention on how the world needed to come together to solve all the problems that face this world. Now, this is where I really start to get scared about Obama. Because, there is one place in which I have read that talks about the whole world coming together under one banner, and that is in the book of Revelation. He doesn't want to run this country, he wants to run the world.
McCain, on the other hand, is staying here in the United States. He is not getting near the press coverage, but, he is making up ground. Two weeks ago, Obama was ahead in just about every poll. Now there are polls that actually have them tied (or at least within one percentage point). I especially like the line about how McCain would rather lose an election than lose a war when it seems that Obama is more concerned about losing the election. Or the one where he says that we can not afford a leader that still would not change his position on strategy (like the troop surge) when there is overwhelming evidence that it has worked. Yes, Obama actually said that even knowing what he knows now, he would not change his position on the strategy in Iraq.
I am particularly having fun with listening to Obama when he does not have a prepared speech in front of him. Everyone makes fun of Bush. Listen to him sometime when he is just answering questions that aren't fed to him before hand. He hims and haws more than Bush on a bad day. Don't get me wrong, Obama is very eloquent and well spoken when he has something prepared, but, get him out of that comfort zone and he almost doesn't make any sense.

Before I actually get into this I have to thank Miss Krys for sending an e-mail my wife's way that I will be posting about in the near future. And, to answer your question Miss Krys, everything I have read tells me that it is true. For everyone else, it is about the difference in views on taxes between McCain and Obama.
Now, about oil. This is actually going to be a little bit of a break from talking about the presidential candidates. Instead, I am going to look at another senator, who just happens to be a democrat.
This is concerning the oil shale that is so plentiful in the western states. Sen. Ken Salazar from Colorado is opposed to going after the shale that is so plentiful in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. The majority of this is in Colorado. Now, I can understand if we were talking about strip mining the stuff. Colorado is a very beautiful state. I think my opinion might be a little different if they were talking about tearing the landscape apart.
He has even gone on to say that the technology to develop the shale does not exist. WAIT A MINUTE!!! If that were true, then why did I see a story on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, of all places, where Shell Oil has the technology to get this shale and make it useful and all they have to do is drill a small hole in the ground? Now, if one of the major networks put this on the evening news for everyone to see, how is it that this senator does not know that the technology DOES exist?
Now, today, I am hearing Nancy Pelosi crying out for the President to release the oil that we have in the national reserve for public use. Why in the world would we do that? That oil is for emergency use. True, the President will release some at times to help out, like he did when hurricane Katrina damaged some of the refineries on the Gulf Coast, but, what emergency are we facing now? Besides that, the majority of the Democrats, including Pelosi, have been crying that we cannot drill our way out of this crisis.
Let's look at that more closely. If drilling, which will raise the supply available, will not help this problem, then what good will releasing the oil we have in reserve do (which will also raise the supply)?
It appears to me that the Democrats have one agenda. That is to oppose anything idea a Republican has to better our situation here in America. I mean, they don't even get all of the facts before they go off spouting things that any person who just pays attention to what's actually going on would know not to be true. No wonder the US Congress has the lowest approval ratings they ever have. The leadership in Congress has done everything within their power to stall any legislation that makes sense. They are threatening the very existence of this great nation and the way of life that we have proudly come to know. They declared the war in Iraq lost, even before the troops that were being sent over during the surge left American soil. And now that the surge has worked, despite their best efforts, they fail to acknowledge the accomplishments of our soldiers and sailors in helping Iraq get to a point where we can finally talk about pulling some of our troops out.
As Americans, all of this should infuriate us. Let's send a message to those idiots that are trying to tell us how we need to live. We should not reelect any of this people. They can't even get their facts straight. I don't know about all of you, but, I am sick and tired of the Democrats trying to tell us how bad off we all are and how the rich people are to blame for all of our problems and the government is the answer for everything. That is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind. They wanted minimal interference from the government while the people are allowed to prosper for their work. If the Democrats had their way, that would all go away. There would be two classes of people, the rich people that run the country and tell everyone how they are allowed to live, and those of us who work hard for a living. Who will not be able to afford to sustain any sort of standard of living if they have their way.

Let me start by apologizing to anyone who actually reads my blog about not posting for a while. If you also read my wife's blog then you know that I have been a little out of the loop for the past couple of weeks. I had to have surgery two weeks ago. Before that, my mom and dad were both here. I haven't seen both of them under the same roof in about 4 yrs. That's just the way everything has worked out. They could never come at the same time, and we just have not been able to go and see them.
Now that that is out of the way. Let's get to things that are a little more important.
I would like to know why the media thinks they can stuff Barrack Obama down our throats. In case you haven't been paying attention, that is exactly what they are doing. The man goes over seas and there are scores of reporters following him. I even heard that over 400 media people requested transport with him, he selected 40 at a whopping $20,000 per person. John McCain steps of a plane in New Hampshire and 2 reporters are there to greet him. This seems to be a LOT wrong to me. I mean, they are both trying to be elected to the same office. So, why the disparity?
Let me offer an opinion. The media pretty much undermined everything Hillary Clinton said or did. They are the reason for her defeat in the primaries. As much as I disagree with her politics, I have to say that I disagree with the media determining the outcome of any political campaign. And it seems that they are up to the same thing for the general election.
Now, let's take a closer look at Obama's trip. He has negotiated like he is a head of state (which he is NOT). The audacity of this man. To trapse around the world and talk to heads of state like he is the head of ours? If this doesn't upset you, it should. Sure, the leader of Iraq would like to see our troops leave his country. We all would. But, he knows as well as most of us should, that if we pull out too soon, then the country will fail. But Obama still fails to acknowledge the fact that the very thing that he opposed has worked. If we had not gone through with the troop surge, Iraq may have made the advancements that have taken place, but, it would have taken years not months. We will never know for sure. However, to disregard the very fact that the actions we have taken have worked is irresponsible.
And this polished, great, smooth speaker that everyone is all up in arms about? If you listen to him deliver a prepared speach, he is a wonderful speaker. However, when discussing things that he does not have a canned response for, he stutters and stammers with the best of them. He does deliver a great speach, but lacks in the spontaneous responses, especially if he has to think about anything. Not to mention that he has changed his position on just about everything since he started this campaign.
Can we afford someone who can't speak well? Someone who believes that he is entitled to be the head of state like he is predestined to it? Someone who changes his position everytime the wind blows in a different direction? Someone who can't even acknowledge the right answer when it is right in front of him? Or someone who can not even acknowledge the wonderful work that my fellow men and women in uniform have done to ensure the security of this country?
I don't think that we can.
